Gas info

Gas prices are ridiculously expensive.  Nowadays you have to think
twice before going out. Why? well not because you don’t know where
you’re heading, but because of the gas price.  You want to make sure
that you have enough for the REAL needs. But come on, we shouldn’t be
doing this.  You would agree with me.  We should all do something to
make things run better and smoother, after all WE are the ones that
can make a difference.  Hopefully one day gas prices will go down
enough to the point where we won’t worry about it like we do now.
There’s got to be improvement with gas and everything related to fuel.
I found this interesting place with beneficial tips for that have
helped me, I thought I’d share it with everybody.

Should the US bail out the financial markets?…

posted by admin in Uncategorized and have No Comments

Bailout Not About Saving 'Main Street'

It s not about saving Main Street, as Paulson claims. Main
Street, under the bailout, is toast. It s about helping the
banks and investment banks and insurance companies that
brought on this crisis to ride it out in style, their
astronomical losses bankrolled or absorbed by the American
public, so that they can shift their operations overseas and
continue with their rape and pillage of the global economy.

The US will be left behind, a smoking ruin, with Americans,
like Weimar Germans before them, going shopping with
wheelbarrows full of worthless green paper to exchange for a
few days groceries.

Why women find it harder working for a Queen Bee than a male boss…

What with the glass ceiling, the wages and the child care difficulties it’s
not as if the problems women face in the workplace haven’t been

Now there’s a major, and somewhat unexpected, addition to the list  -  the
female boss.

University researchers say women who have to answer to a female supervisor
feel more stressed than if their superior is male. —

Woman who hit ex-boyfriend jailed

A woman who hit her former boyfriend with a wine bottle during a party has
been jailed for three years.

Laura King hit Alexander "Blue" Thomson at her flat in the Morningside area
of Edinburgh in January. The apprentice electrician later died.

King and Peter "PJ" Tarwinski were found not guilty last month to culpable
homicide of the 20-year-old.

King was instead found guilty of assault and returned to the High Court in
Glasgow for sentencing.

King and Mr Tarwinski were both cleared of killing him after a pathologist
said Mr Thomson’s cocaine habit could have contributed to his death.

Judge Mark Stewart QC told 24 year-old beautician King that he had a duty to
protect the public.

He added: "You were convicted of a vicious assault involving the use of a
bottle and was continued using its broken end.

"Your reported attitude during the assault displayed one which must have
concerned those that heard the evidence. Despite what has been said, I
detected no sign of remorse."

Judge Stewart also ordered King to be supervised for a year after her
release after being told she was classed as a high risk of re-offending.

Outside court, Mr Thomson’s mum Wendy Barlow described King as "pure evil".

She said, despite the verdict, she still believed King killed her son.

Snorting cocaine

Mrs Barlow added: "She caused him to die, she showed no remorse. There is
not a hint of remorse there.

"I just wish her years of suffering like she has caused me and the rest of

"Three years, for what I believe is my son’s life, is never enough."

The court had heard that on 13 January, King was in her flat in the
capital’s Newbattle Terrace along with Mr Tarwinski and his friend Eve

The trio sat drinking Pinot Grigio wine and snorting cocaine before Mr
Thomson turned up at about 0400 BST.

The court heard that King and Mr Thomson later started arguing.

King then repeatedly struck him on the head, neck and face with a wine

Tony Lenehan, defending, said King had a troubled life, which had been
affected by drink and drugs.

He added: "Miss King is clear about her regret about the offence that night
in what was a very complex relationship."

Electronic Cuffs Planned For Dads (repost)

Electronic cuffs planned for dads

Illinois has joined a growing contingent of states to adopt a law
that will put electronic GPS tracking bracelets on men who have not
been convicted of any crime, but might be involved in a messy

The plan, named in memory of Cindy Bischoff, who was attacked and
murdered by a former boyfriend, was signed into law just days ago
and is scheduled to take effect Jan. 1.

And while its goal of protecting women and children from out-of-
control husbands and fathers is good, it goes too far and violates
the civil rights of innocent fathers, according to a lawyer for a
group that will challenge it.

"Electronic tagging devices can be appropriate as a condition of
parole or probation," said attorney Jeffery M. Leving, who is a
nationally known fathers’ rights advocate, the author of "Fathers’
Rights" and "Divorce Wars" and founder of "The Cindy
Bischof Law goes far beyond this, placing long-term electronic tags
on men who have never been found guilty of any crime."

According to a website set up in memory of Cindy Bischoff, there are
about a dozen states, including Washington, Minnesota, Utah,
Colorado, Michigan, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Florida and Massachusetts,
that now have similar provisions. The campaign’s goal is to prevent
what happened to Bischof from happening to others.

But Leving said there are major constitutional issues that need to
be resolved.

"The law carries a presumption of guilt," Leving said, "without the
benefit of a trial, yet the foundation of our entire criminal
justice system is based on a defendant being presumed innocent until
proven guilty."

He said such restraining orders are not unusual.

A recent article by two leaders of the State Bar of California’s
Family Law Section said such orders "are increasingly being used in
family law cases to help one side jockey for an advantage in child
custody." And the Illinois Bar Journal has described them as part of
the "gamesmanship" of divorce.

But Leving said the full impact of Illinois’ new law is that judges
can order anyone – mostly men and fathers – to wear a GPS tracking
device if they simply are accused of violating an order of
protection, with no court conviction or adjudication required.

In fact, he said, "such orders are generally done ex parte, without
the accused’s knowledge and with no opportunity afforded for him to
defend himself."

Such lack of information for the men can result in unknowing
violations, Leving said.

"A man can accidentally be in the same park or mall as his ex-
wife/girlfriend, and the electronic monitoring device could lead to
his arrest even if he never actually saw her. Some men have even
been tricked into violating the orders by former spouses. The device
will make this easier-a woman could call her estranged husband, tell
him she needs him to come to her house because of a crisis with
their children, and then have an electronic record of his
violation," he said.

"Perhaps such a drastic measure would be warranted if the men forced
to wear the devices had meaningful and fair trials, and were found
to be guilty of violent or dangerous crimes. However, the Bischof
Law empowers judges with the ability to mandate the GPS tracking
device on anyone who is accused of violating an order of
protection," he said.

"Unfortunately, the rush to protect the abused is so incredibly
aggressive that the rights of the accused have been violated,"
Leving said. "I don’t see any safeguard in this law. This law
basically presumes in these situations [men] are guilty."

He said his organization will work with lawmakers to make them aware
of the potential pitfalls of their new law and will watch cases as
they develop to pursue a court challenge to its constitutionality.
